Good morning - I'm back!
I hope you had a good Easter Bank Holiday weekend?
Mine was VERY hectic - we packed a lot in, unfortunately I think I am a bit run down, as I have been doing so much lately, and I woke up Monday morning full of cold. I could beat Rudolph in the 'Red Nose' stakes, because I have been blowing my nose nonstop for the past few days :(
However, before succumbing to this nasty cold, I had a wonderful weekend!
Apart from spoiling me with boxes of delicious Thornton's chocolates all weekend, on Friday Richard took me to one of his favourite places - Sissinghurst. It really is a beautiful place - and has a fascinating history (click here to read about it). I can highly recommend a visit, if you are ever in the area.
Here are a few photos I took on the day - they don't really do it justice, the weather was a bit grey and gloomy, but they will give you an idea of the beauty of the gardens:
We shall go back in a few weeks when more of the flowers and the roses are in bloom. I can't wait!
On Saturday I spent most of the day finishing making some earrings and packing all the stock, ready for the Easter Fair on Sunday.
Unfortunately lots of things went wrong for the organisers of the Fair - apart from the unpleasant weather (cold and raining most of the day), there was a problem with the drinks license, so no beer tent, and the outside caterers pulled out on the morning of the event - so there was no hog roast, no burgers or hotdogs... Not a problem for me (as I don't eat meat), but terrible for the event. Live music, without beer and burgers?!
However, the wonderful Pentacle Drummers brought some visitors back with them, from the charity Pirate Walk along the seafront - and all the people that did come, made the best of things and seemed to have a good time :)
Richard was an amazing 'roady', carrying all my stuff - tent, tables, boxes of stock, up and down a couple of flights of steps umpteen times! The Redoubt Fortress is not the easiest of venues to set up in! He deserved a medal for all his hard word work and patience...
My daughter Aimee came along for a couple of hours and helped out on the stall, which was great, and my Mum and Dad came for a short visit too, even though it was really cold...
Personally I had lots of fun! It was a good day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. (I had a visit from Captain Jack Sparrow too!)
